another weekend

My god the insanity abounds. The middle east and the midwest.. my oh my.. The Assclowns sure make alot of banter and ruckus. Meanwhile the economy is going to hell in a handbasket.. There was quite a bit of banter within the Urban Homestead community over the use of the urban homestead phraseology.. phuck it. I AM AN URBAN HOMESTEADER> and a trashdigger and a freegan.. And numerous other identifiable identities. Screw em all..
Are you all sittin back laughin yur ars off. I am.. Feeling like Nero playing the fiddle while ROme burned.. Just a smokin, tokin and a drinkin and of course preppin whule the SHTF. Oh well. I am going to be doing a video this weekend.. Its too nice outside not to..

Sunday banter

I guess that I spent way too much time this morning discussing politics and gardening with both old and new friends on the Facebook that before I knew it the time time got close to noon. Before I knew it my morning chores turned into early afternoon chores. But I enjoyed the time spent.
Discussing gardening techniques is always a pleasure. And politics. Oh well. AS I have been saying for a long time. You dont have to banter. The assclowns provide their own demise and our entertainment. As long as you stay calm and persist in your endeavors to prep and gather your chances of survival increase.
I went over to Wallie for some staples and noticed the prices rose during the week. Roma tomatoes were 88 cents a pound last week and almost $2.50 a pound today. Iceberg lettuce was $1 a head last week and almost $2 a head today. Glad to know its almost time to start up the garden again to provide these things to my family at a much lower cost.. And the ones God and I grow taste better.

what a bunch of BS

The Dervaes familys organic panties are in a dander. Urban Homestead is a free term.. Why they think it is a registered trademark for their kackamie overpublicized BS enterprise gets me. But given the divide and conquer mentality.. It should be accepted. I will not take the path to freedom link down off my site as their site contains useful info. But I am disheartened by the mentality that drove them to this unwise decision. SELLOUTS to popular consumerism.. Much to the Trash ideology sites like theirs that started with good intentions and now subsist solely to make money is BS.
LWT grew out of my dumpsterdiving and freegan lifetstyle. As you see I dont have ads or royalties or sell ad space on my blog. It will alway remain a free exchange of information as i tshould be

FYI Urban homesteader trademark

Babylon has been real busy this past week and combined with the deep freeze version2 I have not had much free time to post to the blog. We have survived and enjoyed the time of cold weather. On a positive not I went over to Wallie this morning and the gardening stuff is slowly making its way to the shelves.. Its getting there....

weekend update

Spent the weekend enjoying the snow on the ground and the warmer temps. TOok several walks and then got down to some work.
Apparently the hot water kitchen faucet was the culprit as to why the hot water only trickled in the faucet. But it is always good to check all possibilities especially when it comes to plumbing. Having read other blogs and seeing the neighborhood I guess I should fell pretty luck about the results from the arctic blast. We staid nice and toasty while it got down to 15-20 below
The faucet was defective as I only bought it a few months ago. I bought another one and took the defective back to WallieWorld and they gave em my money back. Problem solved.
For Super Bowl Sunday I have a tendency to always want to BBQ with charcoal. Even in the cold and snow/ Needless to say the homemade cheesehead burgers, chips and DrPEpper were heavenly. Good weekend. And the game was good too

the essentials

While waiting for the commuter bus this morning to take me to Babylon I snapped this pic with the phone.. It shows what Trash carries daily, the essentials. The backpack carries the papers, laptop, phone, assorted peripherals etc as well as the flask and pipes for an occasional smoke.
The recyclable bag carries the lunch,a newspaper or two and whatever I am reading at the time. Duing the summer it is also a place where I carry the fresh fruit and dumpie finds along the walk. And of course the coffee cup. The kids got me this one for the birthday.
The prev one held a larger amoun but I seem to have misplaced it somewhere.
What do y'all carry on a daily basis

Morning after the freeze

Midweek update

After the bitter freeze it is supposed to warm up now.. We made it above zero yesterday and its supposed to be in the 30s today.. Amen.
The hot water line in the kitchen sink is defrosting nicely. We are getting some water thru there. Hopefully the warmth will take care of the rest.
We have been real lucky with this one. So far. Even the best preps don't come without experimentation. That is why the 'stead is an experiment.
Anyhow we got some pizzahut and cokes for dinner last night. Took the delivery guy an hour to get out here. But the pizza was still hot. Gotta love Pepperoni and Jalapenos.. yumyum. And a nice cold Corona..
Well gotta mozey back to Babylon for another gruelling day. Enjoy
