a new arrival at the 'stead

I awoke this morning to the joyous wonderment of Mrs T and her smile. UNder the new sun rising. That is always a joy. I went to make coffee and came back to lo and behold Junior came in and showed me the baby bunny they had rescued last night while I was asleep. He sent the night in a cat carrier and this morning over coffee I set up a small cage for him with water and fresh greens from the garden.. Such a cute little bunny.. Poort thing though we found his brothers remains in the front yard. Apparnetly one of the cats had a nice dinner last night.. yumyum..

been thinkin alot lately

For years it has been recall after recall of food and produce etc. As time goes on it appears to be getting more and more frequent. Lately I have been contemplating moving the family off of commercial foods ad expand our pharming operation even deeper into the types of foods we enjoy.
What do y'all think..
If I go this route I may be needing 'financial support" tools. So if anyone reading this blog wants to donate a bit of equipment or some cash leave a comment or 2 and I will get with you.

fathers day recoup

Spent the morning of fathers day tending the garden and then tending to the kitchen faucet. The local hardware store didnt have the right valve cartridge and so I had to replace the faucet.. Mrs T insisted on having the new faucet with the extended hose so I had to uninstall the cheapie one and go buy her the more expensive one.. OK i have to admit I like the hose too..
Anyhow while I was out I picked up some burgers and cheese so we had cheeseburgers, corn on the cob, a fresh handpicked salad from the garden and limeade. The kids got Trash some garden seeds, a garden gnome and a new ball cap.. as well as a new pipe.. Went to bed early 11pm.
All in all a fun day..
Happy Monday

SAturday update

I spent the morning in the garden weeding and pruning and planting some yellow squash that we started about 2 weeks ago. We then went to the store to pick up some kittly litter, clearance aisle sandwich meat and bread. Came home and have spent the afternoon in casual internet conversation with several old friends while lounging on the deck with the laptop and some water. My oh my how the day has gone so quick it is now 630. The birds are eating the leftover corn and seed i put in their this morning and I swear the lettuce has grown a few since this morning.. Alas. Anyhow we ate some ham sandies with fresh picked lettuce for lunch and now will have some leftover pizza from last night for supper with a handpicked salad. What a glorious Saturday this has been

new pics

the results of the rain.

This is the first time I had to turn the water on since the rain last weekend. ground in places was feeling a tad dry. So I watered the soil. Berries are forming in the peas and the cukes and peas are doing well. We have greens galore and the peppers are producing. Pics will come this weekend after the Babylon week is over.
Spent Tuesday helping Junior change a starter on his car. What a proud moment watching Junior learn the old ways. He knows the gardening and his reptiles and some geek. Now he is expanding to DIY vehicle maintenance and repair. Time and patience. I am proud of him.
I am proud of all of the young Trashes. I do my job well.

if life hands you lemons.....

make lemonade.
Everything that god brings to you has a purpose. There is a reason behind it all. Take the time to enjoy and to learn from all that god blesses you with. Life is an experiment. We all now how it is going to end. But the experiments go on every day.
I see that in my children and in my labs.
Do you notice that I either refer to the 'stead as a home or a lab. And my garden is definitely a lab.

Tuesday morning

Well the rain has stopped and now we get to live the 90's. Not the decade...
the temps. Expected to rise.
Grabbed some snacks and smokes last night at the store along with a 40oz beer. This morning while doing the morning chores before work I made a salad from the lettuce, collards, mustard greens, chives and the last of the 1st run on the radishes..to go along with the leftover pasta primavera that Mrs T made last night. Oh and an organic orange that was dumpied last weekend. Yum Yum.

After harvesting some radishes yesterday and enjoying the rain while working on other projects, Mrs T mad a nice simple dinner of rice and chicken with cheddar cheese sauce.. Yum yum. Sunday are usually my BBQ night but with the weather she felt like cooking a bit.. I am not complaining as I had leftovers for lunch today along with a radish salad..
